Here's how to give your guitar the middle finger!
So joking aside, what's happening here is hybrid picking in which my right hand is alternating between the pick and my middle finger. The way I like to think of it is by breaking the strings into pairs in which the lower string gets the pick and the higher string above it gets the middle finger. And then I use hammer-ons and slides to kind of move across the fretboard. So just break it into smaller chunks and take it slow.
